AUGUSTANA是一个alternative rock的band队，最初是由就读于伊利诺州格林维尔学院的Dan Layus(主唱)，Josiah Rosen(吉他主音，和声)，Kyle Baker(鼓)和Simeon Lohrmann(贝司)四人组成的。并且在他们大学期间，他们到处演出，并且在录音室，独自完成了自己的第一张专辑Midwest Skies and Sleepless Mondays，踏出了在音乐路途上的第一步。之后，他们很快的又发行了Mayfield EP，与此同时，Kyle Baker(鼓)和Simeon Lohrmann(贝司)选择了继续学业而离开了这个乐团。但过不久，乐队又很快地加入了新的鼓手Josh Calhoun和贝司手Jared Palomar，这才重新建立起了Augustana。新建后的乐队很快的在2004年，飞往洛杉矶去寻找签约，并且在加州与Epic Records签下一纸合约。再之后，便隆重的推出了他们签约后第一张大碟All the Stars and Boulevards（星光大道），正犹如专辑名称那样，他们希望以次踏上音乐的星光大道。Augustana的歌曲中，也许最受人关注，也是最著名的一首歌就是Boston，一首非常美妙的歌曲，歌曲一开始是钢琴的单音节，但是婉转的钢琴声，美妙的旋律却能在第一时间抓住听众的耳朵，主唱带有磁性的声音把歌曲演绎得淋漓尽致。因此歌曲也实至名归，一举打入Billboard流行热门单曲榜Top34、热门单曲榜Top31、热门成人榜Top10。此时，有人把Augustana比作是Cold play 与Keane的完美结合，但是Augustan就是Augustan。于2006年，Josiah Rosen也离开了乐队，随之，Chris Sachtleben 与 David Lamboureux加入，由他们，重新完整起了如今真正意义上的Augustana。
