We don't know where Springfield is, but it's a town with so much character that it doesn't matter. It has a burning tire yard. It has a citywide snake-bashing holiday. It has three-eyed fish from the nuclear power plant. After twenty years, I know more about this fake Springfield than I do my own real hometown.

Aside from the fact that it's about movie stars and "the business," Entourage examines all that is wacky with the city that sprung up from the star-making industry. There's plenty of the entertainment industry in New York, where Entourage could also have been set, but way less absurdity. Ari Gold would be just another a**hole in New York, but in LA, he's a powerful man.
