由好莱坞知名作曲家乔治奥·莫罗德尔和钢琴家孔祥东共同创作的奥运歌曲《ForeverFriend》8月7日在北京录制完成。这首歌已被北京奥组委确定为第29届奥运会主题曲的候选曲目之一。
这首歌曲风大气磅礴，音符间传递着奥林匹克和平、友谊的精神。同时，歌曲的作者来头不小：莫洛德尔先后创作过1984年洛杉矶奥运会主题曲《Reach Out》、1988年汉城奥运会主题曲《手拉手》和1990年意大利世界杯主题曲《意大利之夏》；此外，他还多次获得奥斯卡音乐大奖，并于1993年北京申奥时创作过《好运北京》。
莫洛德尔透露，他创作《forever friend》(永远的朋友)这首歌曲的最初灵感来自一年前听到的一段来自湖南的音乐。谈及《forever friend》(永远的朋友)和《意大利之夏》以及《手拉手》之间的异同，莫洛德尔表示："《意大利之夏》体现了更多意大利的特色，充满了意大利风味。我去年在德国世界杯时，听到意大利球迷仍用这首歌来为球队加油，这更像是意大利足球的代表；而《forever friend》(永远的朋友)将是中国特色和世界特点的结合，我希望《forever friend》(永远的朋友)一样取得巨大的成功。"
据悉,《forever friend》(永远的朋友)可能将会有中英文两个版本面世，而中国版的《forever friend》(永远的朋友)将突出中国特色，歌曲的前奏部分将出现一小段中国民族音乐。
该歌曲的创作者之一孔祥东透露："这首歌的曲风很大气。在这首歌中，我们并没有用太多的中国元素。2008年奥运会虽然在中国举办，但它是属于全世界共同的盛会，需要全世界的人们都能接受。如果北京奥运歌曲只有中国人会唱，能够理解，那就是奥运歌曲的失败。我们的定位是：全球人民听三遍就可以哼唱出来，这也是全球的参与性。"
