I’m doing it today because I’ve been interested in it for a long time. I’ve been ___1____ suspensions for a long time and today is the day, it’s my turn to do it. So I wanna say what it’s like.

___2____, we always have a huge amount of people they’re interested in coming along, either as spectators or as suspendees. We never run print ads or television ads to get people to come along, because we aren’t really interested in having people along to events that have a genuine interest in suspension and aren’t just coming along to have a god in sake of freaks.

People do suspensions in public. They often have friends gathered around them, they often think about important life moments that their performance might kind of mark. And in those ways, they sort of create their own ___3___.

I’ve been pierced before, but I’ve never had hooks put in my back before and the hooks are a lot thicker and the needles are a lot thicker than what I’m used to.

I think people are disturbed by it because it’s clearly incredibly painful, it looks quite dangerous and because it really ___4___by which we govern our bodies.

It’s half way through. Does that make you feel better?

The suspension was originally borrowed from the Native American O-Kee-Pa ritual. A lot of folks doing the suspensions who consider themselves __5___really try to recreate a similar kind of ritual that would have some kind of spiritual meaning.

Once I was off the ground and I was suspending and had absolutely no more control over it, apart from it push me harder and swing me more. It was really relaxing. I found it a really relaxing experience.

I have done a lot of thing in my life; I’ve never done anything like that. That’s a very unique experience.

It’s definitely mind over matter. If you can suspend, literally you can do anything.
