On May 26, 1894 - Czar Nicholas II crowned as the leader of the 300 year old Romanoff Dynasty.

Bad omens accompany the coronation of Czar Nicholas II of Russia in 1894: more than 3000 people looking to receive bounties were crushed to death, and the new czar's imperial chain fell from his breast to the ground. Nicholas II was neither trained nor inclined to rule, which did not help the autocracy he sought to preserve in an era desperate for change. He dismissed a petition for political reforms as "senseless dreams", and his later failure were agreed to a constitutional monarchy, such as Britains, eventually helped the Bolsheviks to seize power. Nicholas thought himself a pacifist, but his country's costly wars with Japan and Germany also contributed to the downfall of Romanoff Dynasty, which had ruled Russia for 3 centuries.
