President Barack Obama is breaking up his jobs bill into "bite-sized pieces" for Senate Republicans. Beginning a three-day bus tour in North Carolina, Obama pushed for congressional approval of parts of his 447 billion dollar jobs plan.

Federal investigators have brought tracking dogs into the Kansas City home where a baby was reported missing nearly two weeks ago. Police also said a section of the creek behind the family's home was drained as part of the investigation.

Unless crews can put 1.2 million sandbags in place, Thailand's capital could be swamped by floodwaters. Monsoon rains that began in late July have affected 2/3 of Thailand.

And the same engineers who captivated tourists by rappelling down the Washington Monument are conducting a similar operation at the National Cathedral. They are looking for damage caused by a 5.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the nation's capital in August.
