Good morning! I'm Melissa Long here at the CNN center in Atlanta. It is a Thursday morning, the 1st of October. Here's a look at some of the stories that's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

Officials in Indonesia say the death toll in this week's earthquakes could climb
into the thousands. Thousands of people might already be buried alive in their waiting rescue. Survivors were sleeping out last night, unprotect from falling debris and after-shock because their homes were destroyed. A CNN producer managed to speak with the man who's been trapped under a hotel for more than a day. Right now soldiers are trying to free that man w with pick and hammer. He's been able to sip water. He also asked the producer to call two daughters for him.

Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis says he's being resigning at the end of the year. He helped build the company from a scrappy southern bank into a first true national bank by access as the biggest US bank although is tax payers’ about forty five billion dollars. Lewis is quitting in the heavy criticism him over bank's take-over of Myrrill Lynch.

The death role inmate, convicted of killing nine-year-old Jessica Lunsford is died. Florida state prison official say the fifty-one-year old John Cuoey died of natural causes. He was convicted of kidnapping, raping and then burying Lunsford alive in 2005.

President Obama heading the Denmark a little bit late today. The President will make a personal pitch for Chicago to host the Summer Olympics in 2016. First Lady Michelle Obama's already there along with the heads of State for the other three finalists, Japan, Span and Brazil. International Olympic Committee will announce it's long-way decision tomorrow in Copenhagen.
