20th Century Fox, in association with Marvel Studios, has released an X-Men spin-off movie based on Wolverine, titled X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which stars Hugh Jackman returning as the title character. Gavin Hood directed the film, which was released in the U.S. on May 1, 2009 and on April 29, 2009 in the UK and France.

Troye Sivan plays the young Wolverine. The film is based around Wolverine's time in the army with Victor Creed/Sabretooth and then explores how they gradually came to be enemies. William Stryker and Victor Creed are the main antagonists in the film and are played by Danny Huston and Liev Schreiber.

Wolverine is commonly known as Logan. His real name is James Howlett.

He is a mutant. His mutant powers are:

-a healing factor that cures any wound, and heals any disease. That healing factor also slows his aging, making him look a lot younger than he is.

-bone claws

-heightened senses including an enhanced sense of smell, that enables him to sense the specific scent of any person.

Also, a corrupt government program known as Weapon X bonded his bones with adamantium, also banded to his bone claws that he can eject from between his knuckles. His claws can cut through almost anything.

When the Weapon X program erased his memories, he wandered about until he found out Charles Xavier, Professor x. Now, he fights crime as a member of the X-Men.

Wolverine's cool personality, funny one-liners and bad ass attitude made him one of the most popular Marvel characters.
