卷福一词起因于BBC 2010年上映的《神探夏洛克》中Sherlock的扮演者：英国演员本尼迪克特·康伯巴奇的造型（他在里面是小卷毛所以得此爱称）。目前《神探夏洛克》已更新到第三季的第二集。
