早在今年年初，就有消息说，绿州(Oasis)乐队将于今年秋天发表他们的最新专辑。但专辑确切的发行消息一直没有被公布--除了他们专辑里的三首单曲在网上被泄漏之外。6月24日，绿洲乐队终于正式宣布，他们的专辑将于10月6日发行，专辑的名字叫Dig Out Your Soul。这张专辑将在他们的Big Brother厂牌下发行。专辑发行之前，单曲The Shock Of The Lightning将会在9月29日预先登场。
这将是乐队的第七张录音室专辑，专辑的制作人是Dave Sardy，他也是绿州乐队上一张专辑的制作人。上一张专辑是2005年发行的Don't Believe The Truth。单曲The Shock Of The Lightning是Noel Gallagher写的，他的兄弟Liam Gallagher演唱了这首歌曲--用他那性感的鼻音歌喉。
在谈到新专辑的时候，Noel Gallagher说："我希望自己写的音乐是有印记的，能被明显区分出来。我不希望写出看得到以前影子的旋律。"
