哈尔滨国际冰雪节（the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival）正式始于1985年。在每年的1月5日，节日正式开始,持续时间为一个月。但是，如果天气状况允许的话，展览开始得会更早，持续的时间也会稍长一些。每年，哈尔滨的艺术家们将从临近河道中取来的巨大冰块进行不可思议的改造，经过上万名工匠近20天的辛苦劳作，一座奇幻的冰雪之城拔地而起。在白天，哈尔滨已足以令人眼前一亮，然而这座梦幻岛的神奇之处在日落时方为突显。中国各地的游客们齐聚哈尔滨，观赏这些壮美的冰雕艺术品。
The Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival was formally established in 1985. Officially, the festival starts on January 5th and lasts for one month every year. However, the exhibition often opens earlier and stays longer, weather permitting. Each year the artists of Harbin make magical transformations over giant blocks of ice from nearby rivers, and after nearly 20 days’ construction by tens of thousands of craftsmen, a fantastic ice city springs up all around. The city is impressive enough by day but the magic of this wonderland only becomes apparent once the sun goes down. Tourists flock to Harbin from all over China to enjoy the sight of the spectacular carvings.
