May 31st, 2008, Buzz Lightyear blasted off to the International Space Station as a member of the space shuttle Discovery crew. The toy space traveler is part of a program that Disney's Youth Educational Series and NASA developed. Buzz's mission coincides with the opening of "Toy Story Mania!," the new 4-D interactive attraction. It's a dream come true for Buzz Lightyear as Disney Parks and NASA send the 12-inch-tall action figure "to infinity and beyond". Buzz spent several months in space at the International Space Station on mission STS-124. As he tested the limits of zero gravity before returning home to a hero's welcome at Walt Disney World Resort later that year.
