To get into a good college. High school discipline also sets you up to do well in college especially given the MANY more distractions you’re bombarded with.
High school kids are stupid. Everyone goes to high school, from future CEO’s to future mailmen. Only losers wish they were back in high school. No one successful peaks in high school. .
Some of the most successful and famous people today were nerds in high school. They didn’t go to concerts, hang out with the cool kids, play in a band, or ran track. They were all nerds who studied and didn’t have a social life. You’ll get your chance to do cooler things in college and really figure out who you want to become. For that to happen, you need strong foundation in high school
After high school, many students think they know everything. After college, they realize they know nothing. After graduate school, they think they know everything again. Then they go out into the real world and realize how little they really know about anything.
Learning is a lifelong endeavor, fraught with both opportunity and distraction from success. Your best foundation for dealing with what the future brings is learning everything you can from every perspective.
Subjects that don’t interest you now may help you better understand a subject you ARE interested in later. You don’t have enough work/life/education experience in high school to yet know what is important and what is not. That’s not the point. The point is the process of learning and you’ll make those associations later.
College will be filled with more subjects you don’t care about. Work will be filled with many tasks you have no interest in. Life will be filled with things you don’t want to go through. Tough. Sometimes you don’t have a choice and you’ll need to learn to deal with it gracefully early on in order to live a happy, fruitful and gratifying life for the rest of your life.
