Working Together
One of the most important tasks I am in charge of is communicating with worldwide subsidiaries.
I often communicate with them by sending e-mails or calling them directly.
I sent e-mails to the international subsidiaries regarding the PR workshop, but some of them still have not opened my e-mail.
Only a few replied. It is always very difficult receiving responses on time.
I found that calling them directly is always better and faster.
Due to the time differences, I have to stay at work until late to call many countries.
However, I still enjoy my work. I can still build a good relationship with them even if I don’t see them face-to-face.

我负责的工作中最重要的一项事务就是与海外子公司进行沟通。
我经常给他们发邮件或直接打电话。
我为了公关部的事情，给全球各地的子公司发邮件，但是有的人连看都不看。
只有少数人回信。想要按时收到回复太难了。
直接通话更快更省事。
由于时差原因，为了能跟世界各国的人通话，我要在办公室等到很晚。
但我非常喜欢这份工作。虽然不能面对面交谈，我们还是可以建立起很好的关系。

3. I was not able to get hold of her.
我没联系上她。
A: Did you have a chance to talk to her?
B: Even though I called her several times, I was not able to get hold of her.
4. How are your colleagues?
你的同事们怎么样？
A: How are your colleagues?
B: They are very nice. I try to maintain a good relationship with them.
5. Should I ask her to call you back?
要我告诉她给你回电话吗？
A: Should I ask her to call you back?
B: No, it’s OK. I will call her later. Thanks.
REAL TALK
I kept getting a busy signal.
我打电话时线路忙。
I am sorry. I was on the phone. Jane called me from Canada.
不好意思，当时正在接电话，是简从加拿大打过来的。
It’s difficult to reach you. Why don’t you sign up for a call waiting service?

You can still receive phone calls while you are on the phone.
当你接听电话时也可以接听另一个电话。
Wow, that sounds like a great idea. I had better get it.
