chance, opportunity, occasion
这些名词均含“机会”之意。
chance : 侧重指偶然或意外的机会，有时也指正常或好的机会。
A wise man turns chance into good fortune.（一个聪明人能把机会变成好运。）
I have not any chance of telling him the inner story.（我没有机会跟他讲其中的内幕。）
opportunity : 侧重指有利或适合于采取行动，以达到某一目的或实现某种愿望的最佳时机或机会。
He sought opportunities of doing her little service.（他寻找机会为她尽一点力。）
He never missed an opportunity of exposing their opportunism.(他从不放过一个机会来揭露他们的机会主义。)
occasion : 指特殊时机或良机，也指时节。
I want to take this occasion to thank you.(我想借此机会向你表示感谢。)
We can't forfeit the occasion.(我们不能失去这个机会。)
