Let’s all stop judging people who talk to themselves. New research says that those who can’t seem to keep their inner monologues (独白) in are actually more likely to stay on task, remain      26     better and show improved perception capabilities. Not bad, really, for some extra muttering.

According to a series of experiments published in the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology by professors Gary Lupyan and Daniel Swignley, the act of using verbal clues to     27     mental pictures helps people function quicker.

In one experiment, they showed pictures of various objects to twenty     28     and asked them to find just one of those, a banana. Half were     29     to repeat out loud what they were looking for and the other half kept their lips      30     . Those who talked to themselves found the banana slightly faster than those who didn’t, the researchers say. In other experiments, Lupyan and Swignley found that     31     the name of a common product when on the hunt for it helped quicken someone’s pace, but talking about uncommon items showed no advantage and slowed you down.

Common research has long held that talking themselves through a task helps children learn, although doing so when you’ve     32     matured is not a great sign of      33      . The two professors hope to refute that idea,      34      that just as when kids walk themselves through a process, adults can benefit from using language not just to communicate, but also to help “augment thinking”.

Of course, you are still encouraged to keep the talking at library tones and, whatever you do, keep the information you share simple, like a grocery list. At any      35      , there’s still such a thing as too much information.

A) apparently                       I)obscurely

B) arrogance                        J)sealed

C)brilliance                        K)spectators

D)claiming                         L)trigger

E)dedicated                        M)uttering

F)focused                         N)volume

G)incur                           O)volunteers

...so when you’ve ___32___ matured...

...a great sign of ___33__

① to do...,

③ be doing(现在进行时),

④ be/has/have/had done ,

⑤ be done by

The two professors hope to refute that idea, ___34___ that just as when kids walk themselves through a process, adults can benefit from using language not just to communicate, but also to help “augment thinking”.

...remain __26___ better and show improved perception capabilities.

46.It is best to use an EMV card for international travel.

H) Some big banks, like Wells Far 90,are now offering to convert your magstripe card to a chip—and-PIN  model.(It’s actually ahybrid(混合体)that will still have a magstripe, since most US merchants don’t  have EMV terminals.) Should youtake them up on it? If you travel internationally, the answer is yes.

52.Big banks have been reluctant to switch to more secure technology because of the higher costs involved.

解析:由题干中的Big banks和more secure technology定位到D)段前两句,adopted the more secure technology和switch to more secure technology为同义转述。

D) Why haven't big banks adopted the more secure technology? When it comes to mailing out new credit cards, it's all about relative costs, says David Robertson, who runs the Nilson Report, an industry newsletter. "The cost of the card, putting the sticker on it, coding the account number and expiration date, embossing (凸印) it, the small envelope--all put together, you're in the dollar range." A chip-  and.PrN card currently costs closer to$3,says Robertson, because of the price of chips.(Once large  issuers convert together, the chip costs should drop.)

第一步:浏览文章,标记段落;

出题一般按文章段落顺序,如第二题的答案在第二段或者第三段;
