President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quietly met twice Tuesday, aimed at dispute about settlement construction in East Jerusalem. Reporters were not invited to see the two leaders shake hands ---a highly unusual occurrence. The White House did not issue a formal statement--- another break from custom.
Legal experts say a law suit filed by Attorneys General from 13 states against the health care bill may face an uphill fight. That’s because under the Constitution, federal laws trump state laws. The lawsuit was filed just minutes after the president signed the bill. It says the health care overhaul is unconstitutional.
Oprah Winfey has settled a defamation lawsuit against a headmistress she had accused for performing poorly at her South African girls school. The lawsuit claimed Winfey defamed the woman in remarks made in the wake of 2007 sex-abuse scandal at the school. No details of the settlement have been released.
And attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says the Georgia Bureau investigation has withdrawn a request for a DNA sample. Roethlisberger is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a night club. So far no charges have been filed.
